Denver, Colo. (Sept. 22, 2017) – Oct. 5-9 and 12-15, the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon will return to Denver. This collegiate competition challenges student teams to design and build full-sized solar-powered houses, and RavenWindow is proud to support the UC Davis team as they strive to supplement energy-efficient technologies in their design, Our H2OUSE.
By installing RavenWindow’s Gen3 thermochromic smart window technology in the JeldWen manufactured windows of Our H2OUSE, the UC Davis team aims to improve occupant health and productivity.
“RavenWindow’s transitioning technology is a natural fit for instances like the Solar Decathlon,” says RavenWindow Sales & Marketing Coordinator, Sarah Read. “They contribute significantly to home efficiency in a ‘set and forget’ manner without compromising the design of the home or the view from within.”
Open to the public, community members are encouraged to tour the team houses to witness how easy it is to save energy, water and money by making smart, sustainable choices in your own home. A winner will be selected based on best blend of design excellence and smart energy production as well as innovation, market potential and energy and water efficiency.

About RavenWindow Technology: RavenWindow transitioning technology keeps buildings energy efficient year-round. The filter activates when the exterior glass temperature rises above the transition temperature point, and the window then transitions to its tinted state, blocking solar heat from entering, minimizing glare, UV degradation and reducing the load on mechanical systems. During cooler months when solar gain is desired to help heat the building, the filter remains clear to let warming rays and light in. Suited for both residential and commercial use, the products are a fraction of the cost of electrochromic glass and are priced to be competitive with high-performance low-e glass and blinds.
About RavenWindow: Since 2006, RavenWindow has focused on creating the next generation of smart windows incorporating solar-intuitive transitioning technology. Our technology staff created, patented, and now manufactures RavenWindow in our 55,000-sf manufacturing facility in Denver, Colorado. Our automated line supports a steadily increasing demand for RavenWindow across North America. A cost-effective smart window that reduces energy use by up to 30%, the RavenWindow line delivers a rapid return on investment and improved occupant comfort no matter what the season.
